A few things I’m great at

They may or may not be on my resume.

I’m never happier then when I’m editing a piece of written work for grammar, style, structure and content. I’ve been doing it since 2013.

Digging through website and social media metrics is fun. I like to see how the past can influnce the future.

I’ve been writing SEO headlines and teasers since 2015, and it turns out I have a knack for them.

I do my best work when I’m on the same page with my colleagues, so I strive for clear lines of communication.

About Jen

Hello and welcome to my website!

I’ve been coaching and editing writers’ content since 2013, and I’m currently working as an editor at Community Impact Newspaper’s Katy edition. I’ve held this position since October 2018.

Previously, I worked as the web producer for Houston Business Journal and the Columbia Missourian newspaper in a variety of positions: copy editor, community outreach and engagement reporter, general assignment reporter and print designer. I also spent a few months writing for PolitiFact’s Missouri bureau.

My skills include copy editing, packaging stories, crafting SEO headlines and enhancing audience engagement with social media and analytics. But at the heart of it all, I have a deep curiosity and an appetite for going down intellectual rabbit holes.

I grew up in Rogers, Arkansas, and then spent six years at the University of Missouri in Columbia for school. I graduated with my master’s degree in in journalism in December 2017. I graduated with my bachelor’s degree in English in May 2015.
